Universities are essential to both economic and social innovation. They are incubators of ideas; incubators of companies; and incubators of social change. That is why universities are fundamental to the health of our society. In a speech to the Vancouver Board of Trade, UBC President Prof. Stephen Toope outlines some of the points of connection between UBC and the community, and discusses his vision for strengthen those ties.
